My quilt tops

Here are the quilt tops for Melissa, the gold and blue and the green one is Amy's. I was really pleased with the way they turned out. Of course now I have to put them with the back and the batting and tie them off, but the time consuming part is done.

baby quilt

My real first attempt at piecing a quilt and then quilting it. I didn't tie this one off, I just sewed through the layers. I had never done this before, so I didn't know that you actually needed a special foot for the sewing machine. I tried it with just my regular foot, and it bunched up the material on the bottom. So after ripping out the seams (fun...) I went to Sears and broke down and bought the new foot. And I'm so glad I did. It worked great! There are some things that I can improve on, but for my first one I thought it turned out really good.

It's a gift for Zack's cousin, Janice who just had her second baby. I don't think she knows about this blog, so I think it's safe...

I also made the bias tape. Not a really fun project, I think it turned out really cute. I now know why people do it, making your own could get addictive. It just adds a little something. I think on my Christmas list will be a bias tape maker...YAY, fun!

boredom...

I was a little bored the other day and I found this tutorial for a pincushion. So...I tried to make it. It was harder than I thought, and I didn't have the right kind of buttons for the middle. (I think) But, I guess it will hold the pins good enough.

Slipcover.....Done!!

Here's the slipcover that mom was helping me with at the last sewing night. I was pretty proud of how it turned out. I don't think I'll slipcover a sofa anytime soon but I would definitely do another little chair like this....and maybe try to add the cording or whatever it's called.....Anyway, not too bad for my first zipper, eh?

a little tote...

I was a little bored today...and since i got a lot of cute material with Becky the other day, I thought I'd put some to use. I really wanted to make a bigger bag, but I only bought half a yard of the cute flower material. So I just made a simple tote. I want to make some more of these so I can use them at the grocery store. ( But I think they should be bigger for the grocery store..I don't know), I'll attempt another bag on our sewing night with Mom.
p.s. the colors are a lot brighter in person, I couldn't wait for tomorrow to take a picture.
Love you guys!!

Friday Night's Gonna Be Right......

Anyone up for sewing on Friday? I can still come down to Salem. Let me know if anyone is interested.
***Yay, Becky came down. And since someone forgot their material...I had some help making a no cash wallet. (from the bend-the-rules book). I think it turned out pretty good, except a few minor setbacks. I know what to do better for the next one.

Fun Fun Fun

It was a very successful sewing night at the Tenino Estate. Liz made me one of her great bags and I was able to finish aprons for all of us.

Liz also put together a couple more pairs of pajama pants for Cody (not pictured ). Amy designed a coin purse and we put together a trial pattern for it. We even had a little extra time for a puffy heart door hanger!
Already can't wait for the next craft night. Thanks for a great time ladies.

another one...

Hey everyone, I was talking with Amy today and we thought it would be a good idea if we had a separate crafty blog, so we wouldn't bore you guys with all of our sewing stuff. So here is our new one...I'll send you guys all the invites and stuff for it. Hope you had a great day!
